古田さんと、愛犬ロビンの愛車は、
ワイルドにカスタムされた1999年式 Defender 90。

東京と八ヶ岳。
二つの拠点を行き来しながら、ロビンとともに、この車のある暮らしを楽しんでいらっしゃいます。

「いつかは、憧れていた旧型Defenderを。」

そう思い続けていた頃、CRANKのInstagramで出会ったのがこの一台でした。

実際に車を見てみると、思い描いていたカスタムの方向性とも重なる部分が多く、その佇まいにも惹かれ、購入を決意。

もともと探していたのは110でしたが、スバルで長く自動車に携わってこられたお父様にも実車をご覧いただき、最終的にこの90を選ばれました。

乗ってみれば、想像していた以上に乗り味は「トラックそのもの」。

けれど、いつの間にかそれが心地よくなり、
今では普通の車では少し物足りないと感じるほど、このDefenderの魅力にはまっているそうです。

東京と八ヶ岳を行き来する日々の中で、
すでに生活の一部となったDefender 90。

そして今、新たに思い描いているのが、
この車で全国を巡ること。

その旅が始まったときには、ぜひ僕たちも追いかけて、その風景を皆さまにお届けしたいと思っています。

「自分には、かなり背伸びをした車でした」

最初に、そんなふうに話してくださった古田さん。

でも、少し背伸びをして手にしたものが、
その人の暮らしを変え、新しい場所へ連れていってくれることがあります。

モノ（クルマ）から入って、
少しずつ乗り手もそのモノ（クルマ）に似合うようになっていく。

初めてCRANKへお越しいただいた頃と比べ、Defenderの横に立つ古田さんには、どこか落ち着きと、自然な自信が加わったように感じました。

車を楽しむことで、
新しい場所へ行き、新しい時間を過ごし、そこから新しい出会いが生まれていく。

車をお届けしたその先に、そんな変化が生まれていくこと。

それを拝見できることが、私たちにとって何よりの喜びです。

Land Rover Defender 90 -1999

Furuta-san and his beloved dog, Robin, share their life with a wildly customized 1999 Land Rover Defender 90.

Splitting their time between Tokyo and Yatsugatake, the Defender has become an integral part of their life between the two places.

“One day, I’d love to own a classic Defender.”

It was something Furuta-san had thought about for years. Then one day, he came across this Defender 90 on CRANK’s Instagram.

Seeing it in person only made the attraction stronger. The way it had been customized closely matched what he had imagined for himself, and its presence ultimately convinced him that this was the one.

He had originally been looking for a 110, but after showing the car to his father, who had spent many years working in the automotive industry at Subaru, he made the decision to go with this 90.

Once behind the wheel, it was every bit as rugged as expected — perhaps even more so.

“It drives like a truck.”

And yet, that very character gradually became part of its appeal. Today, Furuta-san says that ordinary cars somehow no longer feel quite enough.

Travelling back and forth between Tokyo and Yatsugatake, the Defender 90 has already become part of his everyday life.

And now he has another ambition:
to travel across Japan in this car.

When that journey begins, we hope to follow him along the way and share some of those landscapes and moments with you.

“This car was quite a stretch for me.”

That was something Furuta-san told us when we first met.

But sometimes, choosing something just a little beyond where we are today can change the way we live and take us somewhere new.

Sometimes we begin with the object — the car —
and, little by little, grow into the person who belongs behind its wheel.

Compared with the first time he walked into CRANK, Furuta-san now seems to carry a quiet confidence and ease when standing beside his Defender.

A car can take us to new places, create new moments, and lead to encounters we might otherwise never have had.

For us, there is no greater pleasure than seeing those changes unfold long after the car has been handed over.
